Synopsis:
The Silver Surfer, desperate to breach the barrier that confines him to the Earth, travels to the future and discovers that the galaxy has been ravaged. The Silver Surfer learns of the Overlord and confronts him. He decides to battle against the Overlord, but falls to his superior power. He escapes and travel back to the past and prevents the accident that created the Overlord.

Synopsis:
A descendant of Victor Frankenstein's, who has failed to recreate the experiment that created the monster, befriends the Silver Surfer. He then tricks the Silver Surfer and creates a replicate of him equal in power. The Silver Surfer drives his evil replica away from the tiny village it's terrorizing and into space where the Surfer destroys it.

Synopsis:
Mephisto strikes a bargain with the Flying Dutchman in hopes of get his hands on the Silver Surfer's soul. He endows the Flying Dutchman with powers that will match those of the Surfer and dubs him the Ghost. The Ghost sets out on his flying ship and rampages across New York to get the Silver Surfer's attention.

Synopsis:
The Silver Surfer confronts the Ghost and is drawn into a lengthy battle with him that rages through the city. Both Mephisto and the Ghost do their best to wear down the Surfer's spirit, but he battles on. The Ghost is impressed by the Surfer and reneges on his bargain with Mephisto, who makes an exit.

Synopsis:
In an attempt to understand humanity, the Surfer adopts a mortal guise. He befriends a mother and daughter in a small South American village and rescues the daughter from the clutches of the general of an occupational force. Meanwhile, Shalla Bal has convinced a scientist named Yarro Gort, who is in love with her, to take her to Earth. They arrive and misinterpret the daughter's gratitude towards the Surfer for the rescue as love, which breaks Shalla's heart.

Synopsis:
Yarro Gort joins the occupational force in hopes of destroying the Surfer and winning Shalla Bal's love. The Surfer, who has joined the rebels, is attacked by Gort and he retaliates killing Gort and the occupational force's commander. Unfortunately, Shalla is hurt during the battle and the Surfer is forced to send her back to Zenn La because of her serious injuries.

Synopsis:
The Silver Surfer is captured by a coven of witches and used as a pawn in their mad scheme to seize power. They summon the Abomination from the Stranger's home world, but he refuses to obey and sets out on a rampage. The Surfer saves the life of the head warlock and then is forced to take down the Abomination.

  • The Abomination was last seen in Tales to Astonish #89.

Silver Surfer # 13: "The Dawn of the Doomsday Man!"

Synopsis:
The US government has no way to deal with an unstoppable robot it created called the Doomsday Man and it threatens to escape from its prison. The Silver Surfer, led by the Doomsday Man's creator, visit its prison, but are unable to stop it. The Surfer attack it again and drops Doomsday Man down a hole which he blasted to the core of the Earth.

The Surfer has a run-in with Spidey and the usual super hero misundestanding ensues. They battle it out in downtown New York City until a boy's life is put at risk. They both realize their mistake and go separate ways.

The Surfer makes another attempt to better understand humans and seeks the help of the Fantastic Four. Unfortunately, he overhears them speaking with the US army and misunderstands their intentions. They battle until the Human Torch is hurt and the Surfer learns that he has made a serious mistake.

Mephisto takes another shot at taking down the Silver Surfer. The Surfer fights back valiantly, but is forced to surrender when Mephisto reveals that he has captured Shalla Bal. Mephisto, eager to test his new servant's loyalty, dispatches him to destroy S.H.I.E.L.D..

Synopsis:
The Silver Surfer makes a desperate attempt to find Shalla Bal, but he's forced to attack the S.H.I.E.L.D. carrier. Nick Fury, armed with a weapon designed by Tony Stark, stuns the Silver Surfer and takes the alien captive. The Silver Surfer learns that Mephisto planned to kill Shalla Bal and reneges on his pledge. He frees Shalla Bal and forces Mephisto to withdraw.

Synopsis:
The Silver Surfer finds himself attacked by Maximus' agents and drives them off. He makes his way to the Great Refuge, but doesn't realize that Maximus and his agents are evil outcasts and attacks the Inhumans. Maximus seizes this oppotunity and launches an attack on the city. Frustrated with fighting and violence, the Silver Surfer makes an exit while the Inhumans repel Maximus' invasion.

Jay's Notes:

  • Unfortunately, the series comes to an end. The end of this issue shows us a very different Surfer who vows to fight back with all his powers.

The Silver Surfer is drawn to Quasimodo's plight. He transforms the living computer from a machine into a humanoid. However, the Surfer has misjudged Quasimodo and is attacked. The Surfer is overwhelmed by Quasimodo which allows the living computer to go on a rampage. The Surfer catches up with Quasimodo and punishes him.
